We thought it only fitting that our first ‘Meet The Team’ interview should feature Matt Vaughan who is the Managing Director of Four Seasons Tree Care.

Why did you decide on this career path? I have always liked being outdoors and among the trees with a great interest in the natural world. What other job satisfies this interest and brings in the buzz, excitement and physical challenges of climbing trees and working with chainsaws and big machinery?

What job did you do previously? I worked for a local authority as part of the team managing two country parks, one of which included a Site of Specialist Scientific Interest (SSSI).

What’s the best part of your job? Successfully implementing the more challenging tree work.

What’s the worst part of your job? Dealing with IT glitches

What’s your favourite bit of tree kit and why? Our MEWP, because it keeps me working up in the trees long after my climbing days are done.

What are your day to day responsibilities? Meeting clients, keeping the work stream flowing and ensuring the teams have everything they need to complete the work efficiently.

What are the most important qualities to have in your job role? A flexible approach to problem solving. The ability to listen – to clients, staff and trees!

In your opinion, what is the culture of 4 Seasons Tree Care? A can-do attitude and a drive for continual improvement.

What is your favourite season? Right now, my favourite season is Spring, it feels like it has been a long time coming.

What is the one achievement that you are the most proud of in your life? Being a dad to my 3 children.

When you have free time, what do you like to do? Get to the coast, to be by the sea.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be? Jacques Cousteau

Tell me something surprising about you that not many people know. I have sailed catamarans from the Med back to the UK.
